Our very first The Fun Mum Society meeting! An 18+ craft club for the fun mums! It's time to leave bedtime to someone else, dress up and join our not so secret society! We meet once a month, we yap, craft and fill our cups with glitter, glue + sequins.

I'll provide the space, supplies and party bags you BYO snacks and drinks.

Hi, I'm Hal! If we're not real life friends, welcome! I am so glad you are here. I am a mum of two extraordinary little people and I've taken a sabbatical to open a second hand craft club with the blind faith that we can start a movement to rescue and reuse all the beautiful craft supplies lost to the back of Nana's craft draws. I'm a florist by trade and I was once a Santa's elf, bowling party coordinator, marketing manager and a functions, wedding + events planner. I have a fat French bulldog, a fairly maximalist attitude to most things and have a hero complex that if I see something on Pinterest I figure I could probably make it myself. I have THE most amazing partner, an ex husband that's a rad co parent, a bloody brilliant group of friends and will never, get over the fact the ocean is at the end of our street. But to be very real with strangers on the internet the flip side is, I know how lonely post partum can be, how post natal depression can destroy your world, how devastating divorce is, how co parenting rips a whole in your heart and finances so big you don't know how you'll keep your head above water, how easy it is to slip into the mummy wine culture and how just how hard it is to show up to mums group, baby yoga, rhyme time nonsense when your confidence, identity and self-esteem is total MUSH. So as cringey as I feel typing this here I am, showing up, with the hopes of the studio being a place for kids to craft and learn a bit about recycling and reusing but also for mums, nanas, women of all walks of life to make, connect and just have fun. There is a power in creativity, to make something real and tangible with your hands, to be able to laugh, cry and chat while you work. I've been a florist for - a long time and the work is beautiful BUT my greatest joy has always been the conversations that take place around the table.

I hope this first meeting in our little red brick loading dock is just the start of a big sparkly movement! Join the party, everyone is SO welcome.

A little story about the Bad Art Craft Club - All our materials are treasures, items sourced from the bottom of craft draws, sewing sheds, bits and bobs forgotten and given a second life. By making something new, from something old we hope to save the supplies from a certain death in landfill and show the world that sustainability can be sparkly.
